A renovation project has given this 20-year-old beach house in Chennai’s ECR, a spanking new makeover.

The pandemic induced lockdown has had the positive effect of looking at nature as part of home décor. When Ashish Gupta and Shweta Gupta decided to renovate their second home in ECR, Chennai, they approached The Auburn Studio.

The brief was to have something minimal, quick and easy to execute so that it could double up as an exotic personal getaway. The 6500 sq.ft. Balinese Beach House that was redesigned has minimalist interiors, raw exposed finishes and textures.

Unique art pieces, greenery and handcrafted furniture are part of the aligned spaces and breathtaking views of the vast pool accentuate the décor here.

While the overall layout could not be changed, the architect team knocked down a few walls, reclaiming the outside area.

The grey-on-grey monotone palette complete with cement finished floor tiles, grey walls and grey ceiling, has customised furniture pieces and reupholstered furniture in sand-coloured tones with raw and natural finishes. All the lighting used was handmade with cement, wood, or bamboo finishes.
