The relationship between step parents and step children need not really be very difficult if priorities are set right.

In order to create good moments with step children one needs to know what is perceived as being funny or pleasurable by a particular child. A child might enjoy outdoor games whereas another child may enjoy creative activities more.

Try to stay away from the dynamic of birth parent and child. (previous or separated father/mother) Let your companion (other birth parent), be the decision maker with regards to that unless something highly unfavorable happens.
