The best time of the year is here and it is Christmas when the nip in the air is palpable as is the celebrations as the lights twinkle.

Christmas is the most favorite festival in most households, and it is when children wait the whole year for 25th December because they believe that Santa will come at midnight to give them gifts which will be kept under the Christmas tree.

Come December and the streets and stores in India get a Christmas makeover of sorts with the lit-up roads, decorated Christmas trees that are everywhere in all kinds of sizes and eateries selling Christmas goodies including the famed plum cake.

The red and green theme with holly and Christmas symbols is usually used in most Christian homes in India. Christmas is a time for family, food and festivities and each family has their own way of celebrating the festival.

In most households it is the second week of December when the Christmas decorations are up. Homes are cleaned, vacuumed and Christmas theme decor is put up, from curtains to cushions to table runners, everything is Christmas theme.

Food is an important part of the festivities, and the Christmas menu planning starts at least 10 days before Christmas, for Christmas eve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Christmas in traditional Christian families has Wine, Christmas punch and Christmas inspired cocktails.
