It is that time of the year once again when Christmas is at your doorstep and what better way than to ring in the festivities than by visiting a Christmas market?

Come December and it is officially the time when holiday fever sets in. World over Christmas markets are a great way to celebrate the season with amazing shopping deals. And Bengaluru is certainly not far behind with a clutch of markets that is sure to up the cheer meter. After all retail therapy never hurt anyone, so here is our pick on some must see markets this weekend.

The Handcrafted Edit is a collaborated event hosted at Olive Beach and curated by My Cup of Tea. The aim is to provide a platform to niche handcrafted labels across India to cosmopolitan and eco-conscious markets like Bangalore. The curation brings together an amazing set of labels that promote sustainability, minimalistic design and quality production. “I put together all the niche handcrafted brands and each collection is unique and exclusive. This edit, one can find beautiful and distinct women’s clothing by The Plavate, Kokum and The Simple Silhouette, minimalistic and everyday-functionality inspired leather bags and accessories by The Postbox, offbeat jewellery by Vie that upcycles ethically produced clothing buttons and AKIHI focuses on creating an expression using traditional Indian embroidery. Simple and fun Japanese-inspired handloom kids clothing by Essika Kids and gourmet food and ingredients that will elevate your palate by Soklet – a tree-to-bar handcrafted chocolate, Begum Victoria – artisanal cheese and Sprig, a brand that has all the fine ingredients you have been looking for,” says Rosemary Jacob – Founder & Curator of My Cup of Tea. Mimansa is a wellbeing space and this event has a bunch of exciting activities in store, along with live Christmas music, festive food, mulled wine, and some of the best locally sourced apparel, sustainable products, jewelry, bags, and body care products. There is also a Dream catcher workshop so the countdown to Christmas is going to be fun with a holiday to remember. Malika Suri founder of Mimansa says, “an early kick off to festivities is all we wanted this Christmas so we curated a Christmas edition of our Farmers’ Market with a range of unique brands to get you fully equipped, some DIY workshops and screenings to keep the kids busy while parents indulge at the flea, and some live stations with mulled wine to be enjoyed with Christmas carols. The second edition of the Christmas Market at Phoenix One Bangalore West is a potpourri of activities including Spin Art, Tattoo, Face Painting, Cotton Candy, Chocolates and Bouncy Castle for children. Shopping includes a host of home décor and furnishing, sarees, Handbags, Kashmiri items, modern and ethnic wear. Some of the brands participating in the Christmas Market include 1Q1, Taj Yeshwantpur, Deshi, Smoor, Bakerville and Happy Milk. A variety of cuisines including Oriental, North Indian, South Indian, Organic and Italian will ensure you never go hungry. Sampoorn, the society for Crafts & Crafts People is organizing a day-long event ‘Soul Flea’ – Christmas edition flea market. The farmer’s market, community drum jams and plethora of retail stores makes this a worthy day out. As a part of Soul Flea, Village story will host a Farmers market where you can actually interact with the farmers, get useful home gardening tips and buy fresh natural produce. Shalini Kailash, the organiser says, “we have put a lot of thought into setting this flea and hope that people will like what is on display. I can say that there is something for everyone and it will get the Christmas mood started for sure.” If you like jamming, pick up the drums with Agnii Art for all and enjoy a breathtaking fire show. And there is food too – take your pick chaats, kebabs, cupcakes, popsicles and more. And music is on too with Bollywood numbers by Raqeeb: The band and English songs by Prashant Joshi.
