Five Reasons to Stay at Novotel Vijayawada Varun Hotel

Spread the love

My first trip to Vijayawada was on the invitation of Novotel Vijayawada Varun Hotel. Also perhaps it was serendipity that I finally made my way here as I missed attending the launch and my good friend and General Manager at Novotel Hyderabad Airport, Ravi Khubchandani had mentioned that the property’s design was quite unique. And the minute I entered the lobby I knew that Ravi was right. Here are my top five reasons you must choose Novotel Vijayawada Varun on your next visit to Vijayawada.

The very first thing I noticed was the expansive lobby and soon realized that the size came from the fact that it was designed in an atrium style and hence all the rooms are built around it. The lobby has the reception area, the all-day diner, the bar and is expansive with several seating options. The colour palate is muted with a cream beige tone that runs through the space and the pop of colour comes from the cushions, carpets and walls that are covered with large art works. A central mammoth globe fixture is another highlight of this space.

Gastronomy Beckons

If you love food, you can be assured that there is never a dull moment at the hotel. The hotel has multiple dining options including The Gourmet Bar, Food Exchange, Pan Asian specialty restaurant Wugen and a roof top bar. Executive Chef Vinay Kumar says, “Food exchange is a multi-cuisine restaurant where the food is 25% Pan Asian, 25% local, 25% Western and 25% Indian food. The dessert spread is 70% Western desserts and 30% of Indian desserts. At Wugen do try the Teppanyaki where Chef serves his food with a lot of drama – whether it is flambing or showing his skills with the knife. The meal here is fun of entertainment for sure. You can also chill with cocktails at The Gourmet Bar but being a teetotaler I had a special mocktail made with Coconut Milk, Tender Coconut Water and Coconut Malai blended with dry fruits that was delightful. I was also lucky to sample some of the food that will be part of their roof top restaurant which is an interesting fusion of the tradition with the contemporary and the food here will be an absolute must try. The new restaurant is set to open in a couple of months and will have an eclectic choice of dishes so make sure you try it.

Activity Mix

The hotel has a dedicated wellness section on the terrace with an infinity pool. The bird’s eye view of the city is an advantage. Adjacent to the pool is fully equipped and state of the art fitness and wellness centre which is open to in house guests. A 215-metre jogging track is my favourite space here. This carpeted track is a lovely way to enjoy the city views especially early morning and makes for a great way to start the day. The Dew Spa and Salon is also located on this floor and offers a range of therapies that will ensure you can relax and rejuvenate while you are here. The hotel has excellent meeting and banqueting spaces and there are seven meeting rooms here. The hotel can accommodate over 1000 guests for its MICE activities.

Do More

Novotel Vijayawada Varun is the 20th Novotel in India. The historically rich city locally called Bezawada has several attractions like Kanaka Durga Temple, Undavalli Caves, Prakasam Barrage and Bhavani Island within the city. Also check out nearby Mangalgiri a saree weaving village known for its eponymous sarees where you can actually see the weavers working on handloom mills – a rarity in these times. The hotel can help you explore the nearby region as well on a separate payment basis. What works at this property however are the staff who are warm, friendly, approachable and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. And therein lies the advantage of Novotel. My room had a bowl of soaked almonds as part of the turn down service each night. And certainly it is these small touches that make a difference. So make sure you stay at Novotel Vijayawada Varun when you are in Vijayawada next.
