International Falafel Day

International Falafel Day celebrated on June 12th every year is only an excuse to indulge in this much-loved dish.

Falafel is popular street food in the middle east and is also eaten during Ramdaan as Iftar. This dish is famous with vegans and vegetarians as it is extremely rich in protein, made with boiled chickpea, and can also be made in different variations depending on one’s pallet. One can have Falafel as a snack or it can also be used as one of the main ingredients for a wrap or a roll. This is one of the dish that has one of the largest claims of origin wiz. Egypt, India, Palestine, Sudan, Middle eastern countries are some of the places that claim its origin.

Now they have now caught a lot of popularity in India with the rise of popularity in the Mediterranean food. This also is said to have gained popularity as the pallet and texture is very relatable for us Indians. Falafels are high in nutrition as it contains a base of majority chick pea which is low in fat which is bound with the fresh herbs high in fibre and protein. Over the years there have been new combinations to the core ingredient as it has become a world popular dish on menus across the globe.
