Mandara Spa Aboard The Norwegian Pearl

Spread the love

Mandara Spa on the Norwegian Pearl Cruiseliner has an array of wellness treatments to make you feel both relaxed and rejuvenated.

After having taken a long flight to reach my destination aboard the Norwegian Pearl, I was rather fatigued and the idea of a 50 minute Swedish massage seemed pretty much like a great idea. So I headed to the Mandara Spa on Deck 12 and was met by my therapist Josephine Mariano from Philippines. After filling out a consultation form I was led to my treatment room where I was offered a seat and each point I had made was discussed in detail. She even gave me tips for everyday stretching to improve muscle pain.

Once done, I was asked to change and lie face up. The treatment began with a warm towel rub on my feet that instantly sent my body and mind into a state of relaxation. After this using a body brush made with natural fiber, Jospehine ran it through my entire body to exfoliate the skin and open the pores for better oil absorption. I was asked to turn over and the brushing was repeated all over again. Before starting the massage I am asked to inhale a lemon essential oil twice as it is meant to be refreshing. Also a bowl of lavender aromatherapy oil infused in water is placed below my massage table and soon the entire room is enveloped in the lingering fragrance of lavender.

My massage began with warm alkaline non-odour oil, Elemis Musclease that is meant to put the muscles to ease. Using elongated strokes, Josephine first massaged my legs one after the other stretching and pulling them a bit to ensure that all the muscle strain disappeared. After this she also did a dry massage patting and cupping my legs. Next was the back massage, where she focused on my shoulders and used her lower arms and elbows to ensure the back muscles were rejuvenated. Mixing the warm oil with a cool instant reviving gel she ensured that the hot-cold combination released all the stress from my shoulders and back. Continuing the massage on my hands and scalp the strokes she used included her fingers, palms and lower arms that worked in tandem to create a lovely synergy.

Turning over the reviving gel was applied on my forehead and dabbed on my face with her fingers as it used menthol and camphor to clear the sinuses. An eye mask was then placed on my eyes and the massage continued on the front of my legs and hands. The best part was however the invigorating neck massage that felt completely awesome. On completion I heard the jingle of a bell and I was asked to relax on the bed while she fetched me a glass of water. Post the session she also gave me more tips and product recommendations to address my skin issues. In all this was a session at sea that felt as rejuvenating as it was restful.
