Can a big city break be a relaxing sojourn? Well, if you thought that was an oxymoron, think again. A visit to Novotel Hyderabad Airport Hotel dispels this myth and gives you a much needed break which is in the city and yet away from its hustle and bustle.

Making the Difference

Part of the Accor Group, Novotel Hyderabad Airport Hotel is a unique hotel in more ways than one. For one it is a stone’s throw away from Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and unlike an airport hotel, it is expansive spread over seven acres. Set amidst huge landscaped spaces, are 305 rooms with 11 suites, 70000 square feet of flexible meeting and banqueting space, a sports arena, restaurants, a state of the art gym and spa as well as a special herb garden. Again, while this seems like a business hotel during weekdays, families throng the place during weekends, which is testimony to its universal appeal to all. The staff of the hotel ably lead by General Manager Ravi Khubchandani and his team need special mention as their attention to detail is unmissable. After all the devil is in the details and this team ensures that you are well taken care at all times when you are here. The hotel is also part of Accor Hotels Planet 21 programme that involves working closely with employees, getting guests involved, innovating with partners, taking action in local communities; and on sustainable food and buildings. This is manifested through well balanced dishes served in the restaurant, using eco-friendly cleaning products for rooms, faucets fitted with water flow regulators, recycling and using rainwater, carbon efficiency and also conserves electricity through a slew of ecologically sensitive measures.

The Executive Floor has rooms that make you feel very important courtesy the free broadband internet, access the premier lounge with complimentary refreshments and two large beds that can easily accommodate a two adults and a child. The suites are expansive with a living and dining space as well as a powder room. All rooms are equipped with modern amenities and offer new age comforts that is bound to make your stay memorable. All rooms have recently been refurbished and now have memory foam mattresses, large screen television screens as well as iPod docking stations.

Gastronomy Calling

When I was here, Executive Chef M.B. Varun and his team ensured I was treated to a selection of delectable food. While the all day dining restaurant ‘The Square’ offers an extensive buffet of Indian and International food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I was lucky to sample some of Chef’s special creations also available as part of the a-la-carte menu. I strongly recommend that you try the quinoa upma, a healthy breakfast option served in a purple cabbage leaf! Also try the specialties like Kulcha Chole, Stuffed Puri Bhaaji and Mini Idlis tossed in Chutney powder. If you love Indian food, head to Haldi, the in-house fine dining restaurant that is only open for dinner. I sampled a traditional local food thaali that was customized to suit my taste preferences too which was great. And if you want to chill over a drink, head to the Bar located on the lobby level that serves a wide selection of cocktails, shooters, wines, spirits, beers and more! For guests on premier floor, buffet breakfast, complimentary tea and coffee and complimentary cocktails from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. is available at the exclusive Premiere Lounge. A good holiday is all about good food that elevates your mood and this place scores a perfect 100 on that count!

Activities Galore

When you are at Novotel Hyderabad Airport Hotel there is not a moment of boredom as there are a plethora of activities for the entire family. An expansive swimming pool with a kid’s pool is the best way to beat the legendary heat of the city. An X-Box zone will keep kids entertained too. There are outdoor tennis and basketball courts as well as indoor pool and other games that will ensure you reconnect with your sporty side. Health watchers will love to exercise at the state of the art gym that is fully equipped with many kinds of fitness machines. Alternately if you want to relax, head to the in house O2 spa for an invigorating massage. However my favourite activity here was a visit to the organic herb garden where you can actually see vegetables and herbs growing. When I was here I saw sugarcane, tomato, cauliflower, aubergine, lemon, chilies, basil and mint being grown here. The best part is that the entire garden is organic and does not use any pesticides and the produce tastes great. And if you want to get online, the hotel also offers a 20 minute complimentary surfing session for guests. If you like to shop, there is a pearl store as well as a handicrafts outlet as well as an ATM in the hotel premises itself so you can indulge in retail therapy. Being an airport hotel there is also an online check-in kiosk that allows you to web check-in from the hotel itself. So there you have it convenience and comfort all rolled into one! Just like the other aspects of this hotel that holds so many surprises that you must visit it to discover it over and again.
