Review, Bo Tai, JW Marriott Bengaluru

Spread the love

The newest addition to Bengaluru’s restaurant scene Bo Tai makes a compelling statement as far as interesting Thai and South East Asian cuisine is concerned.

Located in the plush JW Marriott, Bo Tai, a modern Chinese and Thai Bar & Grill is the brainchild of Zorawar and Dildeep Kalra. Set in an open space, the industrial-inspired interior is done up in hues of brown and beige and has a contemporary chic vibe. The alfresco seating area is set under a 200 year tree that pays the perfect ode to the city salubrious climate.

The extensive menu has many interesting options and being vegetarian we tried several dishes that were recommended by Suraj Kumar, Sr. Sous Chef and each had a distinctive flavour and texture.

Preserved Raw Mango and Avocado appetizer

We started the meal with the Preserved Raw Mango and Avocado appetizer an excellent salad made with fresh avocados, slivers of raw mango and fried onions that came together beautifully.

Corn Curd Pepper Salt

The Corn Curd Pepper Salt came next a spicy dish made with corn topped with red chilli and spring onions is good if you like spicy food.

Crispy Tofu

The Crispy Tofu is another winner with the tofu fried to perfection, perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft inside and topped with spring onion, chillies and spices. It is very hot so make sure you allow the tofu to cool down a bit before you pop it in.

Leek and water chestnut dimsums

The Leek and water chestnut dimsums are a beautiful shade of pink and have subtle flavours. You can even have them as such or with the variety of dips served alongside.

Avocado Carpaccio

The Avocado Carpaccio is a light and airy dish that has thinly sliced avocado flavoured with spices that simply melts in your mouth.

For the main course we tried the Veg Pad Thai – flat noodles combined with crisp vegetables and a spicy sauce, Veg Thai Green Curry & Jasmine Rice a combination that never fails to work as well as the Pan fried noodles  – a simple, classic dish that makes for a perfect, balanced dish.

Belgian Chocolate Tart and Coffee Mousse

We ended the meal on a sweet note with this stunning trio of all things chocolate – each of which had a distinct flavour, perfectly sweet and it is hard to stop eating this plate.

Coconut creme Brulee

We also tried the Coconut creme Brulee, served in a dry coconut shell that comes with a crisp caramelized sugar top that breaks neatly to reveal a delicious cream Brulee that has coconut and jaggery and is not very sweet that adds to its charm.

A meal at Bo Tai is interesting as it is unlike the regular Thai and Chinese food you would have tried elsewhere. The food here is vibrant, flavoursome and full of unexpected combinations that work perfectly in tandem to give you a lot to munch on!
