I recently visited Copper Chimney in Indiranagar, Bangalore and here is a quick review of the vegetarian food I sampled.

Name: Copper Chimney

Location: Plot No. 2006, 100 Ft Road, Indira Nagar, HAL 2nd Stage, Bangalore – 560038. Phone: (080) 41155800

Ambience: Copper Chimney serves Indian food and the decor has elements that are typically Indian. As soon as you enter the restaurant you are greeted bells placed in columns that not just act as a decor element but also help act as shield for the diners. The fixtures are all in copper and the beige – brown interiors match perfectly with the copper hued accessories.

What we ate: We started our meal with an assortment of vegetarian starters. We started with the paneer tikka made with fresh cottage cheese marinated in spices and infused with yoghurt and cooked till golden in the tandoor. The creamy flavour of the paneer and the spices mixed together really seamlessly. The Tandoori Shashlik is also a good choice made with assorted whole vegetables and cottage cheese chunks and is mildly spiced and chargrilled giving it a nice Smokey flavour. The Makai Malai Seekh combines soft creamy cottage cheese and corn kernels with flavoured fresh herbs resulting in a delectable easy to eat starter that you will probably ask again. Try the Khatta Jaljeera made with Kala khatta, jeera, soda, salt, lemon, black salt a tangy drink that packs a punch. The staple sweet lassi is another good choice. For the main course try the Kadhai vegetables an assortment of vegetables spiced with onions, pepper, red chillies and freshly pounded coriander seeds that teams well with the rotis and naans. The signature Copper Paneer Masala is another good option being an in house speciality made with fresh cottage cheese simmered in a satin smooth creamy and buttery tomato gravy that is easy on the palate and combines perfectly with the wheat based laccha paratha. Also the Copper Tawa vegetarian Biryani is full of flavour made with long grained rice infused with saffron and select spices with garden fresh vegetables that is quite filling and can be a meal in itself if you are able to eat the whole portion! For desserts try the Lucknowi special Muzzafar, a rich thick rabdi topped with golden roasted vermicelli and its creamy crunchy taste is like no other. The Malai Kulfi, a signature homemade ice cream is lush and creamy and the best way to end this meal. With a history dating back to 1972, the food here is a result of years of research and a great option if you like Indian cuisine.

Price Points: Average meal for two is Rs. 1600 (excluding taxes)
