Riceman – a Packaging Story

An Armenian firm designs a package for rice that is emotional, conveys a human message and is functional at the same time.

Arguably one of the most important staples in a diet rice is a crop that needs much attention and care and the farmers who grow the crop are quite the unsung heroes. It was to honour these very farmers that Armenia based branding agency Backbone branding designed a sustainable rice packaging that comes with a conical hat that can be used as a measure. The name of their project aptly has been christened Riceman.

The project has been designed for a small, local company and the agency worked with farmers to create the design. Local calligraphers and artists completed the character work and illustrations on the package. The goal was to create a design that is not complicated and looks minimal in order to perfectly represent this simple and familiar grain.
