The Karuna Quilt Movement

Spread the love

The Karuna Quilt Movement has a two-fold intention of providing employment as well as appreciating frontline workers.

When the pandemic arrived unannounced last year, it caught all of us by surprise. Life as we knew it was thrown out of gear and adapting to the ‘new normal’ in the face of depression and negativity has not been easy.

Mumbai based Taruna Sethi was also in the same state of mind and her heart went out to all the people that are fighting and working tirelessly during these trying times. “It was important to point out that even in such times, there was so much that we must be thankful for and count our blessings.”

She realised that there were many who played a vital role but were unnoticed and decided to do something for these ‘Invisible Hands’ to be acknowledged. She decided to make and give quilts to COVID warriors and Indian Army, an idea that took birth in July 2020. Her target is to make 1000 quilts by August 15, 2021, India’s 75th Independence Day. The movement also started on Independence Day August 15, 2020.

India’s Karuna Quilt Movement is an initiative by Simply Beautiful Always. Simply Beautiful Always is an online quilting business that is committed to promoting the hobby of quilting in India in a big way.
