Mountain Musings

The Kumaon a boutique property located 1600 meters above sea level in the village of Kasar Devi near Almora is an ode to Uttarakand’s mountains, valleys, forests and scenic lakes. A slightly steep track down, off the main road in the midst of the idyllic village of Kasar Devi will lead you to the entrance of The Kumaon. The terraced sloping site spread over two and a half acre offers uninterrupted views of the valley below and of the majestic Himalayas. The approach to hotel is through a small gate from the foot path and a walkway arches towards the main lounge. A row of planted bamboo trees cover the view of the chalets beyond and obscure the mountain views that set the stage for the visual spectacle that unfolds. Designed by Pradeep Kodikara and Jineshi Samaraweera, Zowa Architect.
