The combination of cider and alcohol may not ring a bell immediately in your mind. However, this is exactly what Rohan Nihalani, Founder & CEO, Morgan Beverages Pvt. Ltd. saw as an opportunity and a gap to fill in the Indian alcohol space. Rohan grew up in Surat, Gujarat, completed his secondary education in Pune and shifted to Mumbai for his graduation. Kiran Dembla. At the woman body building championship, held in Hungary in Nov 2013, an Indian woman made history by becoming the first Indian woman to get duo medals for her six pack abs. Meet Kiran Dembla who not just placed 6th in the championship but was also awarded the most beautiful body builder award. However it was not always that Kiran was into fitness. Growing up in Agra aspiring to be a classical singer, she actually did her first stage show at the age of four. “I did my Post Graduation in Hindustani Vocal Music. SMP Linen. A Sindhi family based in Mauritius is making a mark in hotels across the world courtesy its linen products through its company SMP Linen Ltd. Spearheaded by 58 year old Sham Panjabi, who was born and brought up in Mauritius, the organization today is a world class luxury linen company, providing the finest bed, bath and table linen to the hospitality industry. “My parents migrated to Mauritius in 1957 from Hyderabad Sindh. I joined my family textile business at an early age and in 2007 we started SMP Linen and set up a manufacturing unit in Mauritius. After being in the textile trade for so long and living in a touristic island like Mauritius I decided to come up with a new concept of linen, which was much needed in the hospitality sector here,” avers Sham. Dinesh Gajria. For someone who was taught the importance of money and being independent from a young age, Dinesh Gajra has his parents to thank for his financial acumen. Born into a middle class Sindhi family in Bandra he graduated in Commerce from MMK College Bandra and completed his Cost Accountancy. “Earn while you learn was instilled by my parents thereby propelling me to start with a job to cover pocket money expenses.” Read the full story here:
Hitesh Mulchandani. Born in a joint family in Mumbai, Hitesh Mulchandani is the younger of two siblings and he graduated from Hill Grange High School, Mumbai in March 1998. Soon after this, he joined the family business (a chain of budget hotels), Hotel Landmark Fort at P.D Mello Road to help with its daily functioning. He then completed his graduation from H R College of Commerce in 2003 and simultaneously completed a course in Software Programming from NIIT. “I think that food was never an obsession for me but since I was really young I absolutely loved to experiment. What fascinated me the most was how the food was served. I have a distinct memory of often asking my mother to give me simple home cooked food in a new type of plate. Being a Sindhi, you can only imagine how many sets of crockery were stacked away for the ‘right occasion’.” Read the full story here:
