19th June 2019 is a day Chennai will not forget. It was that day when local authorities announced that the day when the city had run out of water and it was Day Zero. The National Institute for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog in fact said that many cities like Delhi and Bengaluru would meet with the same fate this year. However, the movement to dig a million wells might just help Silicon City curb the naysayers.
The ‘One Million Wells for Bengaluru’ incidentally was a name that was christened in 2018 but is really a movement that started over two decades ago by Biome Environmental Trust, Bengaluru and says S. Vishwanath, Biome Environmental Solutions.
