Arya Giri, a luxe pret label built out of India, epitomises the intersection of cheeky self-expression and poignant poetry with powerful emotional threads. By weaving storytelling into the fabric of AG, they bring disruptive hand-embroidery to the forefront in an imaginative fashion. Since AG’s inception in 2021, it has showcased at New York Fashion Week SS23, and Paris Fashion Week SS24; and is represented in Evoluzione Chennai and Delhi, Pernia’s Pop Up Shop, Flying Solo New York City and Paris, and AG e-commerce.
Her story is one constructed across numerous longitudes and latitudes; Missouri, California, Singapore, Chennai, and more. With the consistent movement throughout her formative years, cognizance of her cultural roots and identity came from the tangibility’s in her life. “The two most transformative constants in my cultural life were and are classical dance and handlooms. I’ve had the privilege of growing up to the background music of art and design at every touch point; whether that was the shuttle sprinting across handloom frames, or the crunchy plastic sheets bustling across my mom’s eager fingers as she chose the perfect old English rose for her new collection. My mother is a huge inspiration to me. Hailing from the Royal Zamorin family, Mom set out on a quest to revive the archive handlooms she had access to that perished with colonization and industrialization; all of our family trips to India were punctuated by the
background music of jacquard punching cards shuffling. This flourished into a major in Fashion Media and Industries at Lasalle College of the Arts, and ultimately starting the eponymous label, Arya Giri.”
Having contributed to two published books under the Additional Secretary to Former President Pranab Mukherjee, worked under Senator Hirai Takuya at the Japanese National Diet; and interned at Fuji Xerox Singapore in the Marketing Department, Ogilvy and Mather Bangalore, and more she is all set to harness her diverse experiences and apply them to the blooming trajectory of her company.
