Experiencing the great Indian jungles for the myriad sights they offer; I learnt that the tiger is not the sighting to crave for and how biodiversity can teach you so much more.

The tiger is the most sought after animal in jungle safaris. I was also conditioned to believe so until I learnt otherwise. This is an unusual story I did, I rarely write a personal experience story.

And where I learnt my lessons of how to understand safaris is in my favourite Kabini. A national park that has a river flowing through it, Nagarhole in karnataka is lucky to have the Kabini River flowing through it.

Kabini incidentally is one of the National Parks that also have a river safari and sees the largest congregation of Asian elephants in the world in the summer.

The upper catchment of the river supports over 136 varieties of fish and is a lifeline of flora and fauna even as it transforms the Nagarhole jungle into a water wonder of the world. As the waterholes within the jungle dry up, the river retains water and this is the primary source of how the animals quench their thirst.
