Kunaal Kyhaan Seolekar Architect and Interior Designer, Founder of Studio HAUS and KOY is changing the design world one project at a time.
As a country India continues to inspire several creative personalities and Kunaal Kyhaan Seolekar is no exception. The talented architect and interior designer has been awarded with the EDIDA 2019 ‘Designer of the Year’ and 2017 ‘Young Talent Award’ and Best Residential Project of Trends Awards among others.
Spending his formative years in an international school in Kodaikanal nature and the outdoors played an important part of his upbringing and much of his work is inspired by it. “I have been artistic from a childhood and enrolled in the Parsons School of Design, New York, where I studied architecture. This opened the world of space, scale and sustainability. Being creatively inclined from an early age, allowed me to diversify and experiment in many different mediums including acting and photography.”
Upon returning to Pune in 2012, he launched studioHAUS, a multi-disciplinary design practice where he works closely with a team of thinkers, designers, architects and creators. In 2017, he launched a contemporary lifestyle brand, KOY, through which he presented a collection of everyday objects that are simplistic in their form yet distinctive in style through its materiality and unique philosophy. “I have been influenced by my mother, an alumni of JJ School of Arts and an Interior Designer and my grandmother who would rope me into creative activities during my vacations as part of my upbringing.”
