Bengaluru’s Water Crisis

The Silicon City and IT Capital of India, Bengaluru is reeling under a severe water crisis even as a drought looms large to add to its woes.

With inadequate rains in 2023, the summer of 2024 has been harsh. Many areas of the city have reported water shortage and bore wells have gone dry.

The city grappling with a bursting migrant population has seen its resources stretched to a point that it has now reached breaking point with swanky apartments reporting no water.

Added to that is the heat that has been unforgiving and unrelenting, which is unusual for the city – another sign if how climate change is impacting the city.
