Bhadrapur – what is in a name?

While William Shakespeare may have famously said, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose/ By any other name would smell as sweet,” the villagers of Bhadrapur in Karnataka beg to differ.

The Hakki Pikki tribe in Karnataka is present in a few districts including Bhadrapur. The specialty of this tribe is that they can understand the language of animals as well. However Bhadrapur’s older community is known for having unusual names like British, America, Japan, Punjab, and Bombay as well as Mysore Park, Kanakanahalli, Cycle Rani and the like.

In fact this is one of the many things that you will find in India. There are several villages that have their own uniqueness that is waiting to be discovered.
