Exploring India’s handicrafts through iTokri

Spread the love

I was recently contacted by iTokri to review a couple of products and browsing their extensive website I was impressed at the sheer choice of options available.

If you are a fan of all things handloom and handicraft like me, bookmark this site for the have tied up with some excellent artists like Pitchuka Srinivas to ensure the products are authentic.

Browsing through the site, I was at first a little overwhelmed with the choices but soon got around to looking for what I wanted using their Search option.

My first choice was this Handmade Ceramic Snack/Serving Bowls that is sold as a set of two. What I liked was the greyish blue and brown tone that the bowls had that instantly appealed to me. The products are great to use not just as serving bowls but also as urlis to float flowers and simply as a great prop for food photos. The packaging of the bowls was excellent – I took a lot of time unwrapping the many layers of newspaper and bubble wrap and the product was perfect.

The other product I bought was this Kalamkari Hand Block Print Natural Dyed Cotton Saree. Again what appealed to me was the colour combination of brown and beige with hints of peach as well as the fact that the blouse had the same colours with peach as the highlight.

The soft cotton sari is perfect for summer wear and is light and airy making it great for the season. Also the kalamkari handloom is soft and feels very comfortable when worn. The platform also offers a service where you are called for a blouse and/or a fall and Pico service. If you are keen you are also sent blouse patterns on WhatsApp but I did not opt for this service. The sari was packed neatly in a sari cover.

The best part was my order was accompanied by a hand written note that thanked me for the purchase along with a little gift – a cute set of five miniature paper kites!
