Microplastic Mess

Spread the love

A concern around plastic pollution is the smaller than five millimetres solid, synthetic polymer particles or microplastics that are omnipresent.

Microplastic are small parts of plastic packaging that are ubiquitous. The alarming factor is that they are every where. So much so that they have also been detected in breast milk.

Today plastic is everywhere – not just in the form of carry bags but as milk packets, and all products are mostly packaged in plastic. This has led to an explosion of plastic pollution and the bigger issue of microplastics which are small pieces that cannot be recycled.

As they are not biodegradable, they are everywhere and the small particles can even be inhaled. The exposure to this can cause detrimental health effects too.
