Sri Lankan Vegetarian Fare

Spread the love

The island nation of Sri Lanka may often be known for its seafood delicacies but if you look beyond, there is a plethora of vegetarian fare that is both appetising and appealing.

On a recent visit to Sri Lanka I visited two Jetwing properties – Saman Villas and Vil Uyana and had the pleasure of trying out a range of vegetarian fare.

While most people associate the island nation with sea food (which is available in abundance), there is much to discover in vegetarian fare as well.

At Saman Villas I discovered the Kola Kenda a breakfast porridge that is made with local greens and is a healthy option. In fact many people just have this for breakfast.

And when I went to Vil Uyana, I had the pleasure to experience a completely organic meal with the vegetables harvested from the organic farm. I also tasted some nice local desserts and even visited a village to see how food is cooked traditinally.
