As the rains make their appearance its time to think about how you can live in one that allows you to enjoy the monsoons rather than worry about it.
A good place is to begin with the building envelope. Check the roof and terrace for cracks because that’s where most water problems start. Next, inspect the exterior walls, windows and balcony doors for gaps that allow moisture to creep in unnoticed. Finally, clean every rainwater outlet before the first shower arrives.
Walk around your home before the monsoon and look for the small warning signs. Peeling paint, swollen wooden frames, hairline cracks or slow balcony drains usually point to bigger issues waiting to happen. Address those first
