Colombo has a brand new address with the launch of City of Dreams at Cinnamon Life, an 800 room property that is quite a destination in itself.
In 2023 when I visited Sri Lanka with Cinnamon Hotels I stayed at Cinnamon Grand and got my first glimpse into Cinnamon Life – the property was in its final stages of construction. Cut to August 2025 and I found myself at the glittering entrance of the City of Dreams at Cinnamon Life and was completely impressed by the scale of the property.
With stunning artworks by artists like Muvindu Binoy, Anoma Wijewardene, Abdul Halik Azeez, Chandraguptha Thenuwara, Jagath Ravindra, Hema Shironi, Anoli Perera, Kingsley Gunatillake, Jagath Weerasinghe, Firi Rahman (who is the currently showcased artists with several of his interesting bird art works) are on display. Other artists whose work is on display include Chathurika Jayani, Pala Pothupitiya, Chudamani Clowes, Senaka Senanayake, Kos Cos, Gayan Prageeth, and Priyantha Udageda, the property is making a compelling case for showcasing local arts.
Its location overlooking the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean means that there is never a dull moment or view when you are here. The property had a grand launch which was graced by Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, international and local artists, immersive multimedia art installations, and a lot of good food.
