Cryotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses controlled cold temperatures to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. It can be broadly classified into localized cryotherapy, where cold is applied to a specific area using ice packs or cooling devices, and whole-body cryotherapy (WBC), where the body is briefly exposed to extremely cold temperatures in a cryo chamber. In dermatology, targeted cryotherapy is also used for certain skin lesions and aesthetic indications.

Like any therapeutic intervention, it works best when tailored to individual needs and combined with correct nutrition, lifestyle choices, and evidence-based treatments rather than being used indiscriminately.
