A traditional form of dyeing, batik has its origins in Java in Indonesia, and the colorful fabrics are a favorite souvenir from the country.

A form of tie and die that uses specific techniques, Indonesian batik is more intricate and has complex patterns compared to elsewhere.

Said to have a history of 1500 years, batik samples have been found in many countries like India, China, Japan, Egypt, the Middle East, Turkey, and West Africa.
