The Parsis strongly believe in ‘Humata, Hukha, Huvarshta’ which mean good thoughts, good words, and good deeds.

Parsis reflect deeply upon their thoughts, deeds and words of the previous year and repent for the wrong ones committed by them whether intentionally or unintentionally in front of the Holy Fire, thus cleansing and purifying their mind, heart, and soul for starting afresh from the next new day, which is the Parsi New Year ‘Navroze’.

“Navroze marks the first day of the Iranian calendar and comes from the Persian word, ‘nav’ which means ‘new’ and ‘roz’ meaning ‘day’. The celebrations commence with taking a bath in the morning with prayers and wearing new clothes, decorating the house especially the main door with fresh flowers, vibrant torans and making colorful and mesmerizing Rangoli and visiting the fire temple (Agyari) and offering flowers, milk, water, fruits, and sandalwood to the fire God,” says Chef Reetu Uday Kugaji, Culinary Expert & Chef Consultant.

A luscious Parsi Dish prepared with stewed chicken with apricots and garnished with fried potato straws, jardaloo means apricots, Salli is Potato Straws and Marghi means chicken, a combination made in heaven, which is indeed completely relished not only by Parsis but food lovers all over the globe.
