Regarded as one of the foremost young practitioners of Karnik Music, Aditya’s latest offering is Room-i-nation.
Created by Aditya Prakash and co-written and directed by dancer/choreographer Mythili Prakash, ROOM-i-Nation weaves together the threads of Karnatik classical music with the history of Asian immigration and stories of identity and belonging to offer a nuanced take on navigating two worlds. The multidisciplinary work that brings life Aditya’s 2023 album ISOLASHUN explores identity, belonging – tracing what it means to find home in the spaces between cultures.
Aditya Prakash is an award-winning singer and composer celebrated for his powerful voice and boundary-pushing artistry within Karnatik music. Performing across the United States, India, and over 15 countries, he is recognized for expanding the tradition through bold approaches to composition, production, and performance.
He is the founder of the Aditya Prakash Ensemble, which bridges Karnatik and jazz. Their 2020 album Diaspora Kid received acclaim from Songlines and KCRW, and ranked among the Top 15 on the Transglobal World Music Chart. In 2021, the Ensemble was featured in NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, curated by GlobalFest.
