Makeup essentials include cleanser and moisturiser for skin prep, primer for a smooth base, foundation and concealer for coverage, setting powder to lock the base, contour/bronzer, blush, and highlighter for definition, eye shadow and mascara for eye makeup, lipstick or lip gloss for the lips, and setting spray to seal the look.

Makeup like any form of art, needs visualisation and creativity. There’s no hard and fast rule of using only a particular kind of tool for a particular kind of product. Imagine the face as a canvas and layer it right. you can use brushes or your trusty fingers or sponges. As long as you are layering them right you will achieve your desired look. Remember to use less products, you can always build on it. It’s a lot less work than removing the excess.

  • Don’t be in a rush. You’ll get the hang of it eventually.
  • Understand the job of each product, helps you buy the right products and the right shade.
  • If you’re buying something for the first time, always seek help from your nearby in store consultants at the brand store itself.
  • Less is more
  • You don’t need to buy everything you see on Instagram.
  • CTM. Cleanse Tone Moisturise. Apply makeup as desired and set it all with a good setting spray.
