Pyramid Walking is probably the most widespread and adaptable system of exercise- for people of all ages and abilities. It can be done with no membership, and no equipment and anywhere you happen to be- parks, races, or even out in your business park.
You may also find the experience of pyramid walking becomes better if you added some conscious breathing or music to the activity. Ultimately, pyramid walking is a form of physical activity that you can do for decades while affecting the best possible physical and mental health.
The best part is that it’s super simple. You can start with something like 3 minutes at a relaxed pace, then 2 minutes medium, 1 minute fast — and then back down again: 2 minutes medium, 3 minutes slow. That’s one round. You can repeat that a couple of times depending on how much time you’ve got. Just plug in your earphones, use a timer or even a playlist with changing beats. That rhythm helps your pace change naturally. Honestly, once you get into the flow, it feels more like a moving meditation than a workout.
It’s not for everyone, some people love zoning out on long walks, and that’s perfectly fine. But for the folks who want to walk with purpose and still wrap it up in 25–30 minutes, this works quite well.
