Sweat & Concrete 2025 brings together art, design, and community in an immersive two-day exhibition that opens at Sabha Space in Bengaluru on 29–30 May 2025.

Organised by People First Cities, an initiative by Purpose, the exhibition delves into the lived realities of informal workers including construction labourers, street vendors and domestic helpers who bear the brunt of rising temperatures in cities.

Through multimedia storytelling, live performance art, and engaging exhibits, Sweat & Concrete explores the intersection of climate justice and creative expression, sparking dialogue on the role of art in addressing global challenges

At the core of the exhibition is the unveiling of The Neralu Heat Shelter, a winning design from a national contest run by ATREE. Inspired by the makeshift shade structures workers use on the job, this innovative, collapsible microclimate shelter provides relief from extreme heat. The shelter will be presented as an interactive, community-driven installation, inviting visitors and informal workers to engage directly with its design and functionality.
