Birds have long captivated the human imagination, inspiring literature, art, culture, and folklore. Whether it’s their awe-inspiring migrations across the Himalaya, or their everyday courtship and nesting behaviour in our own backyards, birds offer a gateway to understanding and celebrating the wonders of the natural world. From the majestic Sarus Crane to the melodious Malabar Whistling-thrush, each species tells a unique story that enriches our lives.

‘The Wonder Of Birds’ course, meticulously curated by Early Bird, invites participants to embark on a journey of discovery into the world of birds. Free, self-paced, and completely online, the course is tailored for anyone with a curiosity about birds. A grasp of conversational English and a smart phone with internet connection is all that is required.

Through engaging multimedia content like films and stories, and interactive modules like quizzes and activities, learners can explore the diverse behaviours and habitats of birds, in addition to learning about the conservation challenges that they face. High quality films have been created especially for the course, directed by film-maker Rituraj Singh, with footage from various sources including from photographers across India who contributed video clips.

For example, one topic in Chapter 1 is ‘Living Dinosaurs’. There is a short 2.5 min film which describes the surprising origins of birds (they are the closest living relatives of dinosaurs), their amazing super-powers and some ways in which they are similar to humans, which adds to their appeal. After the film, there is a short visual quiz which tests what they’ve learnt and adds some interesting facts.
