Living up to its sobriquet of ‘Garden City’, the city of Bangalore is a riot of colour courtesy its blooming trees.

A morning walk in Bangalore in March and April is a sensory delight. Wondering why? Well, this is when you see and smell the flowers literally. And all this is courtesy the flowering trees of Pink Tabebuia or Pink Trumpet (Tabebuia avellanedae), Pink Poui (Tabebuia rosea), Tree of Gold (Tabebuia argentea), Jacaranda mimosifolia or Jacaranda, Peltophorum pterocarpum or Copper Pod and Indian Beech Tree or Honge Mara, among others. These trees however are not just that but mean a lot more for its denizens.

Michelle Khiangte, Account Head, Nucleus Public Relations, says, “Bengaluru has always been a city in bloom, its vibrant hues of bougainvillea cascading over old walls, the scent of fresh rain on jacaranda-lined streets, and the golden glow of tabebuia trees marking the change of seasons. Having spent 17 years here, I have witnessed this beauty unfold year after year, each season bringing a new symphony of colors and life. There’s a quiet joy in seeing a city so alive, where nature and urban life intertwine effortlessly. As Bangalore grows, I hope we can all do our part to preserve this breathtaking charm, ensuring that generations to come can walk these same tree-lined avenues and find the same wonder we do today.”
