The modern groom is approaching wedding style with the same individuality and intention that brides always have. He wants his ensemble to mirror his personality – rooted in tradition, yet distinctly his own.

Today’s groom is far more intentional about style. He wants to look like himself on his wedding day not a ceremonial prop. He’s embracing personal expression: choosing silhouettes that flatter, colours that resonate with his personality, and accessories that tell a story. Tradition is still respected, but it is no longer followed blindly. The new code is: heritage with individuality. Grooms now care about fit, fabric, and feeling not just formality.

Muted elegance is leading the way. There’s a clear shift towards handwoven textures, tone-on-tone embroideries, and minimal yet impactful detailing. Pastels, ivory, and earthy jewel tones are replacing high shine metallics. In accessories, handcrafted footwear, layered brooches and pocket accents are trending.

Grooms are experimenting with structured silhouettes, layering and statement tailoring. Nehru jackets are being reimagined with extended lengths and contemporary bandhgalas in soft pastels or jewel tones are popular for day weddings. There’s also a move towards seasonless dressing — fabrics like silk linen and cotton silk blends that transition easily from day to night. Most importantly, sustainability and craftsmanship have become part of the trend conversation.

The modern groom is now customizing his wedding attire. Monograms, embroidery in the same tone, pastel colors, and asymmetrical cutting are all part of the dress code for the new wedding. The use of luxurious and rich fabrics like raw silk, velvet, and jacquard is also being done. The demand for “one-off” weddings is another trend that is gaining momentum, with characteristics that can be used in future occasions as well, hence showing sustainability and practicality.

Trends

  • Ivory, Champagne, and Pastel tones for day ceremonies
  • Emerald, Midnight, and Bordeaux for evening celebrations
  • Relaxed yet tailored silhouettes instead of overly slim fits
  • Texture play – tone-on-tone embroidery, matte vs. sheen layering
  • Destination-appropriate fabrics like linen blends for beach or outdoor weddings
  • Multiple event wardrobes  each look curated, not repetitive

Men’s wedding fashion has entered its most exciting phase yet, where comfort meets couture and style meets substance. This evolution reflects how Indian men now approach fashion: consciously, with an eye for versatility and individuality.
