A city that has many secrets up its sleeve, Ramanagara near Bengaluru is a gem waiting to be discovered.
The ‘silk city’ of Ramanagara has a potpourri of experiences that straddles nature, spirituality, culture and more.
One of the first places to stop by is the Janapada Loka, a cultural centre that is dedicated to preserving the state’s folk art and culture.
Ramanagara is also a silk weaving centre, and the government cocoon market here is a hub of activity.
Ramanagara is also home to the Ramadevarabetta Vulture Sanctuary. This is the only one of its kind in the country and was started in 2012 to safeguard endangered vulture species: the Indian long-billed vulture, Egyptian vulture and white-backed vulture.
Adjoining the sanctuary is the Ramadevara Betta temple, and you will need to climb about 400 steps to reach the top.
If you are an adventure junkie, the famed rocks of Ramanagara are a favourite with rock climbers and trekkers, as the topography makes it a thrilling experience.
