The much awaited 62nd Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava gets underway from 7th to 18th September 2024, at Sri Sringeri Shankara Mutt, Shankarpuram.
Come September and the first important festival of the month kicks off with Ganesh Chathurthi. The day that celebrates the God of auspicious things – Ganesha’s birthday is a 12 day long celebration across the city.
The main event that heralds the festivities is by Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava (BGU) an organisation that has been conducting the event for the last 62 years. The festival will commence with the installation of the Maha Ganapathi idol at Shankara Mutt and there will daily prayers offered with abhisheka, special aarti, and ranga puja and shayanotsava (a group singing ritual that will put Ganesha to sleep every night). This year is very special as the team is celebrating women. Each day of the Utsava is dedicated to a goddess and all the events are women-oriented.
