The city’s denizens are ensuring that they do their bit by working to preserve the environment over and above the work of civic authorities.

From planting trees to cleaning lakes to working on plastic alternatives and plogging, Bangalore and its citizens are making the case for doing their bit for the environment.

A recent citizen-led initiative to volunteer for parks saw NGOs and denizens, including children, come together to clean and de-weed Jakkur Lake and its premises. The event saw enthusiastic participation by a motley crowd that saw this as a great opportunity to make a difference.

Bangalore’s rapid urbanisation and growing population have placed increasing pressure on its environment. Declining green cover, pollution in lakes, rising plastic waste, littering in public spaces, and increasing waste generation are challenges that require immediate and collective attention.

Karle Infra’s Green Initiatives Extend from Urban Tree Cover to Sustainable Development in Bengaluru

1. Approximately 9000 trees planted across the 62 acres Karle Town Centre campus and other locations in Bengaluru.

2. LEED and IGBC green building standards, resource-efficient design and responsible construction practices, including the use of recycled materials, industrial by-products in concrete and energy-efficient façades, are integrated across Karle Infra’s developments.

3. Karle Town Centre integrates sustainable practices across water, waste and energy management, including sewage treatment and water recycling, rooftop solar installations and energy monitoring systems, with approximately 90% of campus energy consumption met through renewable sources.

“Environmental responsibility in a growing city like Bengaluru extends beyond individual developments. It is about preserving green spaces, supporting biodiversity and making more conscious choices. At Karle Infra, we believe that creating sustainable urban environments requires a long-term commitment to embedding environmentally responsible practices across every stage of development, from design and construction to everyday operations” says Dr. Senoj Alexander V – Chief Product Development Officer, Karle Infra.
