The Museum of Art & Photography (MAP), Bengaluru in collaboration with the MAP Academy’s exhibition Ticket Tika Chaap showcases intricate and evocative textile tickets into focus.
The show is about commercial tools and cultural artefacts—objects that shaped consumer behaviour while also capturing the political, social, and artistic shifts of their time.
Some of these have deities and religious symbols, appealing to notions of auspiciousness; others have Indian monuments, portraits of rulers, or even European motifs all of which became trademarks of the many mills that started as part of the Industrial Revolution.
The show even has an interactive space where you can sit and observe and absorb the visual imagery of these textile labels.
