Founded in New Delhi in 2016 by trained chocolatier Archita Agarwal, The Cacao Pods represents the intersection of fine chocolate, craftsmanship and luxury gifting. Trained in France at ENSP – Ducasse Education and Bellouet Conseil, Archita set out to create a homegrown chocolate brand that would bring European techniques and standards into the Indian market while developing a distinct identity rooted in the country’s gifting culture.
The brand specialises in handcrafted, micro-batch chocolates made with fine couverture chocolate and carefully sourced natural ingredients. Its range includes bonbons, truffles, rochers, gaufrettes, bars and cakes, created for a wide range of occasions—from personal gifting and weddings to birth announcements, festivals, corporate celebrations and dessert catering. Beyond the chocolate itself, Archita places considerable emphasis on presentation, flavour, texture and the overall customer experience.
A central aspect of her approach is adapting European chocolate-making techniques to Indian celebrations and gifting traditions. For her, luxury is not simply about the quality of ingredients but also about creating a sense of thoughtfulness and personalisation. Each product is intended to feel carefully chosen, making the experience of receiving the gift as significant as the chocolate itself.
Among the brand’s meaningful milestones has been its return after a long pause and the discovery that former customers still remembered and valued its products. This response has reinforced Archita’s belief that there is a place for an artisanal, premium chocolate business in India.
Currently, The Cacao Pods is focused on rebuilding with an emphasis on sound economics, consistency and sustainable growth rather than rapid expansion. Archita’s priorities include strengthening gifting and corporate business while developing products that encourage customers to return simply for the pleasure of eating them. At the heart of her entrepreneurial journey remains the satisfaction of creating something that brings people genuine joy.
