Badanavalu is a small village known for Khadi production and also has a connection with Mahatma Gandhi himself.
Nanjangud in Mysore district is one place that I have visited regularly every year. However my visits are normally always restricted to the beautiful Srikanteshwara Swamy temple.
Recently however, I had the opportunity to discover a small village Badanavalu which is home to the manufacturing of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite fabric Khadi.
Khadi has in recent times seen a resurgence of sorts as it is both comfortable and eco friendly. At this center I met many women who patiently made thread and wove them into beautiful khadi garmets.
The place itself is calm and will give you a slice of rural India. The visit was part of my interest to discover offbeat locations and this one was truly inspiring too.
