Kundapura is a small hamlet near Udupi that is known for its scenic vistas and has some old temples too as well as a secret birding place.
Home to the Panchagangavali River, Kundapura sees several migratory and resident birds flock the river through the year. In fact the winters is the best time to take a boat ride where migratory birds come to roost here.
The boatmen are locals who have learnt all the names of the birds by just doing these trips. On our ride I was so sure we were seeing the Brahminy Kite but they insisted it was the White Bellied Sea Eagle and they were right too.
The experience is great if you are a nature lover and especially like birds like me.
