A recent announcement that is sure to make all of Bengaluru’s eco warriors happy is that the only grasslands of the city, Hesarghatta has been declared as a conservation reserve.

As an avid bird lover one of the places that I love in the city is its only last surviving grasslands in Heseraghatta.

The topography of this land is not just unique but also something that cheers all urban souls. The best part is that the region harbours a variety of biodiversity including a variety of birds.

In fact this is a spot that is a favourite with birders and unfortunately some unscrupulous photographers have been guilty of chasing birds for their pictures – damaging this fragile landscape.

However, it is easy to spot the birds from a distance on the road – and here are some of the birds I have clicked.
