Island Calling
Turquoise, Cyan, Azure, Periwinkle, Pantone, Ultramarine – I was running out of names to describe the sea of blue in front of my eyes. Well, I guess I could not be blamed as I was at the stunning private island in Maldives at the even more beautiful Club Med Kani. Tucked away in the heart of the Indian Ocean, the colours continue as you enter this place through the warm sun kissed brown sand and the swaying green coconut palms that lead you to this oasis.
Complete Package
The resort offers Deluxe ground floor rooms with open air bathrooms and stunning sea views, Club rooms that have beautiful garden views and the five Trident luxury overwater suites that have a private terrace coupled with magnificent views of the lagoon. The resort’s location ensures that the only sounds you will hear are of the waves making this place inviting and completely private. I am told that happiness is Club Med’s core value and the staff here ensures this is never compromised in all their interaction with you. The resort also offers a plethora of activities, peppered with adventure and generous sprinkles of local culture that add to the charm of the place. So indulge in scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing, surfing, parasailing, kayaking, kite-surfing, water-skiing, swimming, angling, big game fishing and private boat trips. If that packed a punch, check out the lobster picnics, wave runner outings, archery, trapeze, island visits, golf, badminton, basketball, beach soccer, beach volleyball, soccer, volleyball, water polo, bocce ball and table tennis. If that does not excite you, this is where you experience peace of mind as elements of wellness and care are intertwined in the experience. To rejuvenate try their world-class spa treatments like the Balinese massages, warm stone massages, pure nature facials, reflexology and aromatherapy. The best part is that these therapies have the healing power of touch, the earth’s energy and strength of natural enzymes that release toxins, relieve stress and re-energize the body’s energy flow.
Food & Beyond
The key concept of the resort is its all-inclusive concept that means you can eat and drink as much as they want, wherever and whenever you want to. And to help you the resort has two restaurants and two bars. Vehli offers international cuisine and traditional Asian cuisine buffets, The Kandu is a specialty restaurant, the Iru Bar on the Teak terrace that overlooks the bungalows on stilts, beside the swimming pool and the Sunset Bar on the edge of the lagoon offers delectable drinks and views to die for. One of the activities that is a must do is explore the pristine beauty of nature through the abundance of undersea treasures as you explore the underwater world of the Coral Reef. The coral-rich crystal clear waters have turtles, Napoleon fish, stingrays and lionfish so you are in for a treat here. The resort also organizes excursions to untouched Virgin Islands, experience the local Maldivian thrill of night fishing, and a night reef fishing trip that begins at sunset. As I leave the place, I realize why this is called ‘heaven on earth’. This is where you can come as close to paradise as you can imagine. And you cannot be blamed for wanting to return again. And again!
