Geoffrey Bawa the Sri Lankan architect who has been the name behind several iconic buildings has an iconic home in Bentota in Sri Lanka.
A recent visit to Bentota my first to this part of Sri Lanka was memorable as I discovered that this was where famed architect Geoffrey Bawa lived. In fact Lunuganga was his home that has now been converted to a boutique property. And there are guided tours that you can take to get a glimpse of his architectural brilliance.
Incidentally May 27 is also his death anniversary and probably another good reason why you should have this as part of your itinerary to Bentota.
If you want to know where to stay and what to do in Bentota do read more here. A great place to stay at Bentota is Jetwing Saman Villas, that happens to be the same place where the web series The Night Manager was shot. Also check out the amazing work being done for turtle conservation.
The guided tour at Lunuganga happens three times every day and you must call them in advance to check if you could visit. The entry charge is USD 35 per person. It is advisable to wear comfortable pair of shoes and a hat. Carry a bottle of water and umbrella as the weather can change.
