The home is a spirited blend of textiles and wallcoverings by Pierre Frey, Christian Lacroix, Scalamandré, Holland & Sherry, Gucci, Schumacher, House of Hackney, Milton & King, Cole & Son, and more. The designers’ initial conversations with the clients were more about refreshing some of the initial spaces and helping with the design of an addition they were going to do to the house.

A lively blend of vintage, Art Deco, and modern aesthetics with a distinctly European flair.  mr alex TATE and his team brought that vision to life beautifully.

One of Mr. Tate’s core design philosophies is “fearless curation,” and the home owners were immediately drawn to that bold, expressive spirit. His studio embraces colouring outside the lines blending the unexpected, layering vibrant hues with dynamic textures, and creating interiors that feel alive.

The firm has a particular passion for what they call ModVic, a modern take on Victorian collecting, where curated treasures, art, and antique discoveries coexist with contemporary design. The homeowners loved this approach: mixing refined modern pieces with beloved vintage finds to create spaces that feel personal, storied, and joyfully eclectic.

The addition was nixed and scaled back due to logistics and timing.  As such they focused on refreshing all the interiors more extensively than we had previously discussed.  In contrast to their previous home in Florida (which has more Moroccan-inspired elements) and in contrast to their Canada home’s interiors, this home was to reflect a more colourful aesthetic and lean a little into the Palm Beach flair.

The home has a lovely courtyard as soon as you enter the home.  The house has a u-shaped configuration so much of the focus becomes the courtyard and the water views since it is bordered by water on two sides.  The entry turret is a distinctive feature of the home that makes for an impressive formal foyer.  The overall layout of the home is quite timeless with the all the bedrooms being en-suite and the primary bedroom being its own floor.  The home really has a very effortless flow and with the remodel we were able to make the spaces more personal and functional.
