As you grow older and reach midlife, there are noticeable changes in your fitness and energy levels, and this is when you must be mindful.
Fitness is important at every stage in our lives, but it becomes particularly important at midlife because we start experiencing fatigue, low motivation, insomnia, anxiety, and depression, to name a few.
Choose a cardio exercise like walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, or dancing, the one that you enjoy and do it regularly.
Regular physical activity can help maintain an ideal weight, keep us alert during day and promote better sleep at night, get us around without huffing and puffing, enjoy our daily activities, lowers the risk of/ manage chronic diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, arthritis, depression, anxiety, and some metabolic disorders.
If you have not exercised in a while, start slow and build it up as anything is better than nothing. Make sure you consult a doctor before starting any exercise program especially if you suffer from chronic health issues like heart disease, diabetes, or arthritis. It is equally important to watch your diet and focus on healthy, nutritious meals each time.
Remember, you do not have to do it all by yourself, ask for help. Take this new chapter in your stride, be happy, be healthy. In essence, nutrition and exercise are the keys to good health during midlife and beyond.
