Murthy RK started his journey as a runner at the age of 18 and recently completed the Boston Marathon and the London Marathon in April 2024. He plans to run in the Tokyo Marathon in 2025 and the World Masters Athletic Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 14th August 2024.

Murthy RK is a Design Program Manager at Sonata Software’s Bangalore office.  His objective was to maintain harmonious balance between work and personal life. He believes that work-life balance plays a crucial role  in achieving success, both in one’s professional career and personal life.

He ran in the prestigious Boston Marathon on April 15th, 2024 and, just five days later, on April 21st, he completed the London Marathon. Now, he is planning to run the Tokyo Marathon in 2025. He is also representing India for the second time in the World Masters Athletic Championship, which is scheduled in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 14th August 2024.

Murthy has completed 5 out of the 6 World Major Marathons: Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, and New York. Tokyo is the only one remaining for him to complete and earn his 6-star medal. Thus far, only 137 Indians have achieved this feat, and if everything goes well, Murthy will join this elite club next year. He is planning to run the Tokyo Marathon next summer.

Murthy has been an IT professional for over 20 years, and his passion for running remains strong. It all started when he became a national champion at the age of 18. Murthy has won several state and national medals and maintains a very high fitness level even now. He typically wakes up around 4 am every day and runs 5-6 days a week, covering approximately 75-80 km a week. He has been doing this for over 15 years. This extreme level of discipline and dedication has led him to represent India in the Asian Masters Athletic Championship in Kuching, Malaysia, where he placed 4th in the 5000 meters in his age category. He also represented India in the World Masters Athletic Championship in Malaga, Spain. Additionally, he heads the Sonata Run Club.
