The current government believes that India will achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 through infrastructure development.

Infrastructure has grown exponentially in the past few years, and here are some of India’s impactful buildings that are revolutionary in design:

  1. The world’s largest single office building (larger than The Pentagon) Surat Diamond Bourse designed by Morphogenesis that went viral recently catering to over 67,000 members of the diamond community
  2. India’s first net-positive energy building, Headquarters of the MNRE – the Atal Akshaya Urja Bhavan by Edifice Consultants.
  3. Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre at Lavle, Pune by IMK Architects which won two International awards – The Surface Design Awards and UIA awards and this marks the first time that Compressed Stabilized Earth blocks (CSEB) has been used on this scale anywhere across the world.
  4. Defence Office Complexes at Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Africa Avenue by GPM Architects designed to relocate the existing defence establishments and accommodate around 7,000 officials from the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces post-pandemic with energy efficient measures.
  5. Krushi Bhavan by Studio Lotus is a facility developed for the Government of Odisha’s Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment located in Bhubaneshwar.
  6. Hotel in Bodh Gaya, Bihar from SJK Architects is a 78-key hotel consists of a public block and a guest block.
  7. Made from upcycled shipping containers by Architecture Discipline, the Mohalla Clinics are designed to bring affordable primary healthcare to every neighbourhood in Delhi. The clinics are a prefabricated, easily deployable and sustainable solution to the issue of inaccessible primary healthcare
