Tanisha Bawa an award-winning Nutrition Coach, Gut & Hormone Health Expert, and the founder of TAN | 365, a leading health and wellness studio in Delhi that is redefining preventive healthcare through personalized, evidence-based nutrition. Some excerpts from an interview:

My journey abroad began when I moved to London to study law at Queen Mary University. Living independently in a new country was a transformative experience that broadened my perspective and helped shape the person I am today.

After completing my degree, I returned to New Delhi, began practising as a litigating lawyer at the Delhi High Court, and also got married. During that time, I noticed a common pattern around me. My colleagues, friends, and even family members were constantly saying they didn’t have time to prioritise their health. Long working hours, convenience eating, stress, and lifestyle-related health issues had become the norm.

Our products are gluten-free, vegan, and refined sugar-free, proving that healthy food can also be delicious. It wasn’t just about creating products for people managing conditions like PCOS, it was about making healthier choices accessible for everyone and encouraging a more preventive approach to everyday eating.

My professional journey has evolved from being a solo nutrition practitioner to leading two complementary businesses with a shared mission of making preventive health more accessible.

I began my practice with a strong focus on preventive nutrition and helping people build healthier, more sustainable lifestyles. As I worked with more clients, I recognised a recurring pattern: many chronic health concerns stemmed from imbalances in gut health and hormones. That insight inspired me to pursue advanced qualifications in gut and hormone health, allowing me to provide more specialised and evidence-based care.

Today, my work focuses on both preventive and therapeutic nutrition, with particular expertise in gut health, hormone health, fertility and preconception, pregnancy, postpartum nutrition, autoimmune conditions, IBS, IBD, and blood sugar management. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping more than 1,000 individuals improve their health through personalised nutrition and sustainable lifestyle interventions. What continues to be most rewarding is seeing people regain not only their health, but also their confidence and quality of life.

As demand grew, so did the practice. What began as a one-person venture has now grown into a team of dedicated nutritionists who share the same values and commitment to personalised, science-backed care.

As the team has grown, my role has naturally evolved. While I still work closely with clients, I also focus on mentoring my team of nutritionists, driving innovation, business development, and expanding both the nutrition practice and the FMCG business, while ensuring we continue to deliver the highest standard of personalised care and products.

Alongside the nutrition practice, I founded EAT by TAN | 365 to bridge another gap I saw in the market. I wanted to create products that made healthy eating enjoyable rather than restrictive. Today, our FMCG range includes gluten-free, vegan, refined sugar-free, and dairy-free products that allow people to indulge without compromising on quality or ingredients. What started with a small range has now expanded to include celebration cakes and other everyday products, making healthier choices more accessible. We are also available on Zomato and deliver pan-India, allowing us to reach people across the country.

As the FMCG business has grown, so has the team behind it. Building both businesses has taught me that sustainable growth comes from empowering people, fostering the right culture, and creating systems that allow innovation and quality to scale together.

I’m grateful that this journey has also been recognised by the industry. Being named Health Professional of the Year in the Businessworld 30 Under 30 Awards was a proud milestone. I’ve also had the opportunity to speak at platforms such as FICCI and on panels hosted by Reliance Jio, where I’ve shared my perspectives on preventive healthcare, nutrition, entrepreneurship, and the future of wellness. I was also featured live on CNN, which was a meaningful moment in my journey and a reminder of how far consistent, evidence-based work can go.

For me, however, the greatest achievement isn’t an award or a milestone it’s knowing that through both TAN | 365 and EAT by TAN | 365, we’re helping people rethink their relationship with food and empowering them to lead healthier, happier lives.

As the practice grew, I encountered a different kind of challenge learning to lead. Moving from working independently to building a team required a complete shift in mindset. I had to learn how to hire the right people, delegate effectively, create systems and standard operating procedures, and build processes that would ensure every client received the same high standard of care. That transition taught me that sustainable growth depends not just on expertise, but on strong systems and empowered people.

The business itself also evolved gradually. I started working from home, and for the first three years my small team and I operated out of my husband’s office. As the business grew, so did my responsibilities. My nutrition practice expanded, requiring a growing team of nutritionists and stronger operational systems, while the FMCG business also scaled with dedicated operations, production, and logistics. There came a point where we had simply outgrown the space and needed to build a workplace that could support my vision for the future.

Taking that next step meant investing in my own office as well as significant commercial equipment for the FMCG business. It was a capital-intensive decision and certainly daunting, even though the business had reached a stage where it could support that growth. Looking back, it was one of the defining moments in my journey—not just because we expanded physically, but because it marked the transition from a small startup into an organisation with the people, infrastructure, and systems needed to scale sustainably.

Every challenge has strengthened my resilience, reinforced the importance of staying true to my vision, and reminded me that building something meaningful is a marathon, not a sprint. I believe the most rewarding journeys are rarely the easiest ones, but they are the ones that shape you the most.

Studying law in London was one of the most defining experiences of my life. It was the first time I was living away from home, managing everything on my own, and being immersed in a completely different environment. While I went there to pursue a legal education, I came back with so much more than just a degree.

. It wasn’t the conventional path, but living abroad had taught me that it’s okay to question the expected path and pursue something that aligns with your purpose.

Real success comes from showing up every single day, learning, improving your craft, and staying committed even when progress feels slow. If you continue to do the work with discipline and patience, there comes a point where your work speaks for itself.

Finally, don’t be afraid to start before everything feels perfect. You will never have all the answers on day one. Some of my biggest lessons came from simply taking the first step, learning along the way, and being willing to adapt. Entrepreneurship is a journey of continuous growth, and if you stay authentic, resilient, and committed to your purpose, the results will follow.

To me, being a global Indian means embracing the best of both worlds. It’s about learning from global experiences and perspectives while staying deeply connected to your roots, values, and identity.

Having studied in London gave me a broader outlook and exposed me to different ways of thinking. At the same time, it made me appreciate India even more for our traditions, our diversity, and especially our incredible food heritage.

In my own work, I try to bring those worlds together every day. I combine evidence-based global nutrition with the wisdom of traditional Indian food and lifestyle practices to create solutions that are practical, sustainable, and relevant to the people I work with.

Being a global Indian also means representing India with pride while remaining open to learning from the world. I believe we have so much to contribute, but we also have so much to learn. It’s that balance of confidence and curiosity that, to me, truly defines a global Indian.

Motherhood has been one of the most rewarding experiences, and it has deepened my appreciation for the importance of health, balance, and being present in the little moments.

Looking ahead, my vision is to continue building both TAN | 365 and EAT by TAN | 365 into brands that make preventive healthcare more accessible and practical for everyone. I want to reach more people through personalised nutrition, innovative food products, and education that empowers individuals to take charge of their health before illness develops.

As we continue to grow, I also hope to expand our team, invest in innovation, and create solutions that make healthy living simpler, more enjoyable, and sustainable. Whether it’s through our nutrition practice or our products, my goal is to help people realise that living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to feel overwhelming, it can become a natural part of everyday life.

At the end of the day, I hope the work we do encourages people to see health differently to value prevention, make informed choices, and realise that small, consistent habits can transform lives. If we’ve been able to inspire healthier families and contribute to a future where people live longer, healthier, and happier lives, I would consider that my greatest achievement.
